ORGANISERS of the Dentdale Run handed out the trophy for the first local lady for the first time in the 14 mile race history on Sunday.

Pat Gardner became the first woman from Dent to finish the race and be awarded the prize when she rounded the course in 2.18.07.

Scott Thornley from the race committee said: “We were really pleased we were able to present the trophy and there are now more women taking part in the race. We had just short of 400 entries which was slightly down on last year but 345 people finished it.”

The overall win went to Wrighton Road Runner Ian McBride who was three minutes clear of his closest rival as he completed the race in 1.19.09.

Second home was Eden Runner John French in 1.22.25 with Horwich RMI’s Gareth Booth third a further minute back.

Skipton AC’s Clare Pearson was the first woman to finish in 1.38.30, ahead of Keighley and Craven AC’s Amy Green and Eden Runner Karen Bridge.

The race heads out of Dent to the west before returning through to village towards Cowgill and finishing back at Dent CofE Primary School.

The first local man to finish was Joe Stafford in 1.59.36.
