Evo-Stik Premier League
Kendal Town 1
Chorley 2
AN Andy Teague goal two minutes from time gave Chorley all three points as the rain poured down at the CosySeal Stadium this afternoon, Monday.

Chorley have been in the running for the play-offs for some time now and showed their potential with an early strike to take the lead.

Just seven minutes were on the clock when new signing Ciaron Kilheeney put the visitors ahead when he was given time to turn in the box and score from five yards.

But Town showed their battling credentials as they ground out a win against Hednesford Town on Saturday and they levelled the match with 20 minutes played.

Ciaran Donnelly fed a pass to Gary McEvatt on the edge of the box and he laid the ball off for Adam Farrell to blaze through the defence and into Russ Saunders' bottom corner.

Town were in the ascendency as they played the conditions better than their higher ranked opponents but despite Donnelly and Kevin Leadbetter breaking forward they couldn't find a way through.

Five minutes before the break Town had a succession of corners but efforts from Farrell, skipper Marc Joseph and McEvatt failed to trouble the Chorley stopper.

Chorley themselves could have had a half-time lead when Chris Denham burst through but Rory Winters made a last ditch tackle to thwart the Magpies' midfielder.

A fairly even tussle saw very little between the sides as both made good headway in the middle of the park.

Chorley's Steve Flitcroft forced a fine save from Craig Dootson on 58 minutes and Denham could only head the rebound over the top.

A McEvatt shot was blocked before Farrell headed a goalbound Chorley strike behind but just when it looked like the game was heading for a 1-1 draw Teague popped up to head home a Tom Ince corner and Chorley took the points.

* Kendal Town striker Alex Taylor missed this afternoon's game after a car crash on the way to Kendal but it is believed he has escaped unhurt. Boss Lee Ashcroft said the talismanic striker would be available for Saturda's home match against Ashton United.
