Windermere Golf Club win tri-challenge

WINDERMERE won the annual challenge between themselves, Kendal, and Appleby golf clubs on Sunday and after two days of rain the course held up well.

Kendal finished second on 629, 22 more than Windermere, with Appleby third on 662.

The Junior foursomes gross was won by Appleby’s Chris Kirkpatrick and Ian Moncaster on 76, while best singles gross and the Graham Andrew Shield winner was Ian Moncaster with 73.

Windermere, who hosted the tie, won the Junior Shield (362.5) and the Veterans Salver (207), with Ken Vickers from the club scoring the best veterans gross on 66.

The Senior Foursomes was a tie between Kendal pairings James Atkinson and Jamie McDonald, and Andrew Millray and Adam Chapman with a gross 65.

Kendal’s Sam Doidge and Adam Chapman of Windermere tied for best singles score with a gross 64.
