Thousands compete in Cumbria School Games in Carlisle

THE Cumbria School Games took place in Carlisle with winners from Eden and Furness.
Ten sports took place involving 1,500 pupils, and each district competed under a flag designed as part of the Amazing Art project, a scheme run by Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s Amaze service for people with mental health issues.
Kirkby Stephen Primary School beat South Lakes - Windermere Juniors to top prize in the Years Three and Four hockey, and were also runners-up in the Year Three and Four golf competition for large schools.
Burlington C of E School in Kirkby-in-Furness triumphed in the Year Three and Four small schools golf competition, while Dowdales School from Dalton-in-Furness triumphed in the table tennis four-a-side team challenge.
Eden district won the orienteering for Years Five and Six, with South Lakes third, while athletics champions were Carlisle, followed by Furness in second and Allerdale third.
Penny Bridge School at Greenodd finished second in the Years Three and Four tennis for small schools.
