FOLLOWING their efforts around the county Kendal swimmers turned to the latest round of their own Club Championships held in the Lakes Leisure Centre.
First off the mark was Emily Reay with a resounding victory in the Under-14s 100m Butterfly. Off the block she began to accelerate away, opening up a gap that could not be matched and triumphed in 1:19.29 with Lucy Bradbury second and Mia Senior third.
The boys event proved much tighter as Daniel Armstrong had to work hard for his win to hold off Gregor Rothwell, who challenged right to the finish.
The U12s got their chance at individual medley and the girls produced the highlight of the evening with Nicola Capstick and Ella Mounsey battling it out to the very last touch. Into the last leg they were still together and Capstick won by less than a secondover Mounsey, with Zoe Webster getting the bronze position.
The boy's event was a complete walkover for Tommy Klijn, who gave a competent display of his all-round ability to win.
The breaststroke leg of the U10s gave Megan Jones a comfortable win while Louie Tideswell held it together for a clear win in the boys section.
In the senior ladies 100m butterfly, Emily Reay gave another powerhouse display for her second trophy while Nicholas Carlton also proved a double winner in the men’s 100m butterfly and 200m backstroke.
The ladies 200m backstroke produced an outstanding swim from Laura Garrick, who beat Reay and Lucy Bradbury.
The gala finished with the Swift Swimmers relay team snatching victory to take the Clubs and Workshops Challenge Shield.
