BOLTON-le-Sands skipper Dyson won a crucial toss and inserted the home side Westgate on a wet track in one of only two completed Westmorland Cricket League fixtures this weekend.
Dyson (1-24) took the new ball with Clarkson (4-53) and both produced impressive spells to restrict Westgate.
The league leaders captain Hill scored 64 of Westgate’s 124 runs but partnerships were hard to come by, Pearce providing the best support with 17.
Sands got off to a steady start as Baines, Brickles (14) and Ibbotson (13) frustrated the Westgate bowlers, crucially keeping wickets in hand.
A double change of bowling saw the introduction of Hill (2-39) and Nisbet (3-27), and five relatively quick wickets fell leaving Sands in trouble at 59-5.
However this only brought together the dangerous pairing of Clarkson and Beaumont. The pitch appeared to lose its bite with the pair taking apart anything loose, adding an unbeaten 69 as Clarkson scored 31 and Beaumont picked up 35 runs with three overs to spare.
Sedgwick continue to struggle as they were bowled out for 100 against Silverdale, Mason claiming figures of 5-18.
Hargreaves just about made his half-century in the reply for Silverdale as they knocked off Sedgwick’s total to score 103 with seven wickets in hand.
