Young gets off to perfect start to boost GB hopes of a 1-2-3

NEWBIGGIN swimmer Tom Young got his Paralympics off to the ideal start by winning his heat in the S8 freestyle 400m.

He surprised fellow Brit Ollie Hynd by making his move after 250 metres having swum on the shoulder of rival Hynd for the first half of the race.

Bu he stepped up a gear and won the second heat by just over two seconds.

Ollie Hynd's brother Sam won the first heat.

It boosts hopes of a British 1-2-3 as Young lines up against the Hynds in the final, which is scheduled to go off at 5.30pm tonight.
