NEWBIGGIN’S Tom Young finished seventh in a difficult final of the S8 50m freestyle.
Russia’s Denis Tarasov broke the world record he set this morning in a time of 25.82, with Marice Deelen from the Netherlands was second and Wang Yinan of China third.
It was always going to be a tough ask for Young having qualified in the joint-slowest time to leave him starting from lane eight, and he ended his 50m in a time of 27.71.
He is in action tomorrow (Tuesday) in the S8 100m backstroke heat from 9.30am, and if he qualifies he will compete in the final at the Aquatics Centre at 5.30pm.
