AMBLESIDE United are up to fifth in the West Lancashire League Division One after a comfortable 5-0 victory in their first ever match against Stoneclough.
All the goals came in an exhilarating first half for the Cumbrians, the first of which came after just three minutes when Shaun Gardner’s shot was not gathered by the Stoneclough keeper, and Maison McGeechan was on hand to tap into the back of the net.
With 10 minutes gone Zach Clark was fouled just outside the box and Gardner diverted Aaron Helliwell’s free kick into the goal to make it 2-0.
Clark then bagged a scintillating 10-minute hat-trick, all of which came from cleverly-worked moves, to put the game beyond doubt in the first half.
Gardner had a header ruled out for offside but there were no more goals in the second half as Ambleside cantered to victory.
Dalton United made it three wins in a row to put their terrible start to the season to bed.
Having lost their opening six games, a Danny Leech brace got the Furness side off to a great start but Jason Sharp pulled one back to make it 2-1 to Dalton at half time.
Gareth Jones then made it 3-1 before Leech completed his hat-trick on the hour mark.
In the 78th minute Dax Hoogerwerf threatened to make it interesting by pulling one back but Jones guaranteed the points for Dalton two minutes later to complete a 5-2 win.
In Division Two injury-plagued Milnthorpe Corinthians lost 6-2 at home to Furness Cavaliers.
An own goal got Cavaliers off to the perfect start by scoring in the first minute but Milnthorpe equalised after four minutes with Liam Cowley’s left-footer.
Steve Morgan scored with a header to put Furness 2-1 up at half time and their lead was extended to 4-1 after an hour thanks to goals from Jordan Hughes and Lee Chubb.
A lovely individual strike from Elliot Bousfield brought Corinthians back into the game and as they pushed for the goals that would get them an equaliser, Chubb and Kyle Delves scored in the 85th and 88th minutes respectively to seal a 6-2 win for Furness Cavaliers.
Goals from Kyle Jefferson and Kevin Edwards were enough to give Askam United a 2-1 victory at home to Gsk Ulverston Rangers, whose appearance on the scoresheet came from an own goal.
