Blackpool Wyre and Fylde Athletic Club finished in a highly creditable fourth position in the Northern Athletics Inter-Club Cup Final at the Sports City Stadium, Manchester.

Lytham's middle distance ace, Jono Prowse, was again the men's star performer, winning the 5000m by a clear 50 metres in a time of 15 minutes 05.12 seconds.

Jono then doubled up in the 800m where he finished strongly to record a time of 1, 58.13 - just two seconds behind the winner.

Nia Rutter continued her unbeaten run in the triple jump and went on to take third place in the shot putt event followed by seventh position in the discus.

Another sub-50 second performance from Brent Starkie secured second place in the 400m.

Meanwhile, Poulton's Tom Cunningham sharpened up his speed work for the forthcoming cross country season with a strong performance in the 1500m where he finished a close second.

Matt Wright was second in the pole vault and the club's ladies veteran champion, Carolyn Robbins achieved a well earned second place in the 3000m.

St Annes based Stuart Robinson secured third place in the 10,000m while Daniel Ettrick also achieved third place in the high jump and Kirkham schoolgirl Katy Wyper was placed third in both the 100m sprint and the long jump while Katy Holder cleared the bar at 1.90m to claim third place in the pole vault.
