Kirkham's sprint sensation, Lucy Mansfield, was the club's only double gold medallist in the end of season medal meeting at Stanley Park, last weekend.

Lucy was a clear winner in the 200m with a time of 25.6 secs and the 300m in 42.00 secs, leaving her Carr Hill schoolmate, Katy Wyper to take the 100m gold in 12.8 secs and the 200m silver in 26.5 secs.

Daniel Etrick was the only senior gold medallist of the afternoon with a competant clearance of 1.75m in the high jump.

Blackpool's under 17 mens middle distance duo, Dominic Garrett and Jack Scarr reigned supreme in the 400m and 800m with Dominic taking the 400m gold in 54.8 secs and Jack, the 800m in 2 mins 11.3 secs.

In the under 15 division, Alex Nash and Megan Sweet took both of the high jump golds with clearances of 1.46m and 1.48m respectively, while Chloe Needham won the discus with a throw of 24.25m and Lauren Gowland and Bianca Pederson struck gold in the 800m and 1500m with times of 2 mins 26.2 secs and 4 mins 52.2 secs.

In the under 13 age category, Tash Gardner duly won the 100m in 12.2 secs but had to settle for 2nd place in the longer sprint where she recorded 27.6 secs Luis Blyth was a comfortable winner in the long jump with a leap of 4.78m.

Dominic Lavelle also struck gold in the long jump with 3.91m and Amelia Betmead kept up the long distance family tradition with a convincing win in the 600m in 1 min 54.4 secs.

Greg Nash won both middle distance silver medals for the under 17 men with 2 mins 25.1 secs in the 800m and 4 mins 59.0 secs in the 1500m while Joe Gigli sharpened up for the coming cross country season with a solid 4 mins 34.8 secs for silver in the under 15 boys 1500m and Chris Pate won the high jump in the same age group with a clearance of 1.40m Katie Wood took another silver medal in the discus with a throw of 22.95m.

Luis Blyth supplemented his long jump gold with silver in the high jump with a clearance of 1.35m and Ashley Hails recorded 2 mins 43.5 secs for silver in the under 13 boys 800m and Amber Swinnerton, the under 11 girls long jump silver with 3.64m.

Bronze medals were achieved by the following BWFAC athletes: under 15 boys Jamie Thomson 100m 13.0 secs; 200m 27.0 secs and discus 20.70m; Matt Walker high jump 1.30m; under 13 boys Luis Blyth 200m 29.4 secs; Finn Walker high jump 1.30m; under 15 girls Samantha Smith 800m 2 mins 35.4 secs; Bethany Towers 100m 12.8 secs and Alicia Johnston 200m 26.6 secs; under 13 girls Taegan O'Hara long jump 4.05m; under 11 girls Amber Swinnerton 80m 12.1 secs and Emily Grey 600m 2 mins 02.5 secs.

Several BWFAC youngsters were in action at the Arnold Seddon Memorial Meeting at Wigan the previous day.

Bianca Pederson was the club's star of the meeting with a strong performance in the under 15 girls 1500m which she won in a superb time of 4 mins 49.1 secs.

Beth Towers won the 100m sprint title in 13.6 secs while in the field events, Chloe Needham was a clear winner in the discus with a throw of 21.91m., Taegan O'Hara the under 13 long jump with 4.36m and Rebecca Todd, the shot putt with a throw of 8.05m.

Runners-up places were achieved by Kassidy Knight.100m in 13.9 secs and 300m in 45.7 secs; Tash Gardner 100m in 13.7 secs and Taegan O'Hara 70m hurdles in 12.60 secs under 15 boys Jamie Thomson 400m 57.9 secs and shot putt 7.92m; Adam Weightman 800m 2 mins 26.5 secs; Finn Walker long jump 4.11m and high jump 1.30m under 11 boys Bradley Yates 600m 1 mins 49.5 secs.

Third places went to: under 15 girls Chloe Needham shot putt 7.98m; under 13 girls Jodie Ferguson 800m 2 mins 33.1 secs under 15 boys Jacob Corry 400m 62.5 secs; Matt Walker high jump 1.35m.
