MARC Brown is hoping his history-making Netherfield side can carry the cup 'feel good factor' in to the remainder of the league programme.

Netherfield made Northern League history by becoming the first team to win three consecutive Twenty20 Cup finals while they have also booked their place in the semi finals of the Cumbrian Country Cup.

Now Brown wants to carry that momentum in to the league when they travel to Penrith on Saturday.

The Netherfield captain revealed his players knew exactly what was at stake when they took on Lancaster in Sunday's rearranged final after the match was halted due to rain the previous week.

And they more than delivered as they restricted Lancaster to 135-5 from their 20 overs then knocked off their runs in just over 14 overs.

"All the players knew exactly what was at stake and that we were going for an historic three in a row," said Brown. "We were favourites as well but the players were superb. I am over the moon with the way they played.

"But it wasn't just them, the victory goes for everyone involved with the club because we have all bought in to this format of the game and I am delighted that we have created that little bit of history."

Batting first at Lune Road, Lancaster got to 32 without loss before professional Dieter Klein made the breakthrough when Lee Sparks was caught by Ben Barrow for 17.

Opener Rameez Raja was caught by Klein for 21 off Nathan Chambers.

Some excellent accurate bowling denied Lancaster the chance to score heavily with Jamie Heywood (45) the only one to get any return as Chambers (2-26) and Bradley Earl (2-24) were the pick of the Netherfield attack.

Victory never seemed in doubt as Richard Potter, unbeaten on 59, led the run chase with Klein (42) and John Huck (23) guiding the holders to an historic treble.

Having beating Arnside in the quarter final of the County Cup to set up a semi final showdown with Netherfield, Brown has set his sights on a cup double and a top five place in the league.

"There is a feel good factor around the club at the moment and that is something we want to carry on," he said.

"We have done well in the cups but we are also doing well in the league as well and we are only one win off a top five place and that is something we have to aim for.

"Penrith won't be easy. They beat us at our place and they are similar to us in terms that they have a quite a young side.

"But we have momentum and this is going to be a big few weeks for us.

"We have always said it is a case of one game at a time but we have the chance of winning another cup while a top five place is something that is a realistic target.

"If we carry on, we could be right up there."
