NETHERFIELD captain Marc Brown said there were plenty of positives to take out of Saturday's winning draw against Chorley.

Brown missed the match due to holidays but reports he received were favourably as the Parkside Road club ended their run of two straight defeats.

In a match reduced to 32 overs a side due to the rain, it was key to win the toss, bat first and try and bowl out the opposition.

Netherfield managed two of the three - posting 190-9 from their innings - but had to settle for seven points as Chorley were 177-4 at the close.

"Obviously I was not at the game but Ben Barrow who captained the team in my absence said there were plenty of positives to get out of the game," said Brown.

"It is always difficult in these reduced overs games because the emphasis is always about trying to get a big total then bowl the opposition out.

"We probably would have liked to have got over the 200 mark but it wasn't to be."

Netherfield had a solid start with Barrow (32), Richard Potter (30), Dieter Klein (34) and John Huck (25) giving them a solid base to work from.

But once the top order departed, runs were more difficult to come by.

Bradley Early went for one while Tom Williamson and Joe Atkinson scored 15 and 14 respectively. Nathan Chambers also came and went without making an impression - caught by Andy Flear off Will Moulton for one.

Mark Chambers produced a fine cameo performance late in the innings, smashing three sixes and a four for his 15-ball knock of 27.

Chambers and then Ryan Wilson (6) were both bowled by Peter Cummins who finished with figures of 6-57 as Netherfield closed on 190-9.

Netherfield would have wanted an early breakthrough to unsettle a Chorley side who have been out of sorts in recent weeks.

But despite the best efforts of professional Klein - who claimed all four Chorley wickets for 47 runs - the breakthrough didn't come early enough.

Will Moulton was first to go, trapped lbw by Klein for 35 and fellow opener David Fisher went for a top score of 66 when he was caught by Clarkson.

Chorley captain Ian Dickinson pushed the total along, reaching 39 befroe he was caught by Potter. Alex Weetman went for a duck but at the close, Jack Bentham was unbeaten on 12 and Keiran McCullagh eight not out as Chorley finished on 177-4.
