NETHERFIELD were forced to settle for a winning draw as they were frustrated in their efforts to dismiss a resilient Barrow outfit.

Rick Potter's 68 off 67 balls as well as professional Dieter Klein's 79 off 75 balls helped Netherfield to an impressive first innings total of 270-6.

Barrow skipper Toby Mowat and teammate Greg Reynolds frustrated the home side's bowling attack with knocks of 40 as the Furness club saw out their innings on 201-6.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, Netherfield made an imposing start as Ben Barrow and Potter put on 52 for the first wicket.

The quick fire start came to an end when Barrow (21) was bowled by Mowat.

Both Marc Brown and Potter steadied the ship with a second wicket stand of 61, before Potter was bowled by Ryan Gilmour.

Barrow gained some momentum and soon had Netherfield three wickets down when Brown (40) was stumped by Chris D’Leny before John Huck was bowled for 14 off 22 balls with Netherfield now on 170-5.

However Klein batted well as he top scored and despite Joe Atkinson getting bowled for 19 by Sam Henderson, Netherfield were on course for a big first innings lead.

Klein's stunning knock came to an end when he picked out Reynolds off the bowling of Paul Riley.

Brad Earl (15 not out) and John Mason (five not out) guided Netherfield to an imposing total.

But Barrow were in no mood to roll over as openers Dean Williams and Tharanga Paranavitana put on 47 for the first wicket.

However a bowling change which brought on Ryan Wilson for Klein swung the initiative in Netherfield's favour as Wilson quickly trapped both openers LBW in two successive overs.

Both Sam Dutton and Michael Wellings kept the visitors in the contest before Dutton was caught by Nathan Chambers for 29 off 53 balls off the bowling of Klein.

Mark Clarkson then dismissed Wellings (29) as John Huck claimed the catch.

However the visitors dug in through Mowat and Reynolds and despite Mowat picking out Wilson off the bowling of Brown the visitors saw the game out.
