THE trophy collection at Netherfield Cricket Club was massively boosted at the weekend - with three cups out of a possible five claimed.

The 1stXI beat Cleator at Furness CC to lift the County Meageen Cup, whilst the 2nd XI travelled to Workington to beat the home club and take The John Scott Memorial Trophy.

Nearer to home the junior section of the club had to play three further finals.

The U13 had a delayed start at Warton in their final against Bolton-le-Sands and lost in a reduced overs final by six wickets.

The U15 were at Heysham and lost in a dramatic finale by one run despite having to chase down 157.

Because so many U18s were unavailable either in the 1st & 2ndXIs, playing rugby, football and hockey, five of the U15s had to make their way back to Warton and were joined by two U13s.

However a brisk opening spell from Joe Portmann destroyed the Carnforth early order taking 4-16 from his six overs - after arriving back in the UK from Bangkok at 8am that morning.

Isaac Medhurst supported at the other end as 22-5 off 11 overs became 34-7 before a rally took the final score to 76.

Chris Park Johnson repeated his morning form retiring on 40 with Theo Gallagher 33 saw them home for one wicket down and half the overs left.
