James Anderson will return home on Saturday, for the second time this winter, to rest while England begin the limited-overs leg of their Australian tour.

England's pace spearhead flew to England and back before the third Ashes Test in Perth to be at the birth of his second daughter.

He has featured in each of the five Test matches, however, and is comfortably the series' leading wicket-taker.

Anderson will miss both England's forthcoming Twenty20 matches and then the first three of seven one-day internationals against Australia over the next month.

His fellow fast bowler Steven Finn, himself rested for the last two Ashes Test of a series England are destined to win, will remain with the squad in Anderson's absence - before joining the Lions tour of the West Indies. England coach Andy Flower said: "James Anderson will be returning to the UK for a complete break from cricket for 10 days.

"He has had a heavy workload so far this winter, playing in all five Tests, and we feel he will benefit from a short rest period to ensure he is fresh for the second half of the Australia ODI series and the World Cup - which follows shortly after."
