Chorley Building Society Northern Premier League

NETHERFIELD continued their upsurge in form with a comfortable success over Preston to move up to sixth in the table.

They gleaned a lot of joy early on when the on song Nathan Chambers began his four-wicket haul when he claimed Mohsin Modi’s wicket for nought following a John Huck catch in the third over.

Ben Harrison was run out for two in the sixth over and Scott Clement bowled Sajid Patel for seven in the 10th over to leave Preston massively struggling at 11-3.

Soyeb Dukunwala was the mainstay of the innings with 77 off 114 balls, but he was given zero support by any of his fellow batsmen as only three others reached double figures.

Greg Hall claimed his only wicket of the innings when Colin Ackermann caught Yasin Patel for 11 following a partnership of 39 between him and Preston pro Dukunwala, and another 36 runs were added before the Netherfield pro got the first of his three wickets when Hall caught Javed Iqbal for 11 in the 35th over, leaving the home side toiling on 86-5.

Javaid Hussein was next to fall for two, with Ackermann completed his trio of wickets when Brendan Herron caught yasin Boda for one, leaving the home side 100-7 with nine overs remaining.

Chambers was left to clear up the rest of the Preston line-up, firstly dismissing Imtiaz Matak for 14 when Ackermann claimed his second catch of the day in the 48th over.

In the final over Chambers bowled Shabnan Ali for two, and followed that up with Dukunwala’s wicket to leave Preston all out for 140.

Marc Brown dispelled his poor form this season by opening the batting with the in-form Ben Barrow, and the pair were unbeaten on a partnership of 142 to easily claim a 12-point win.

Barrow’s 60 not out included eight fours off 95 balls, while Brown was unbeaten on 67 off 85 balls, including 10 boundaries, as Field eased their way home.
