NAMIBIAN professional Christi Viljeon decimated Kendal’s batting attack as table toppers Blackpool recorded a resounding nine wicket victory at Shap Road.

26-year-old Viljeon starred with the ball taking 7-19 in a devastating opening spell with Richard Gleeson, who himself took 3-25, as Kendal were skittled out for just 46 runs off 28.1 overs.

Kiwi Jamie How took the only wicket as Blackpool raced to an easy victory reaching their target in just 12.2 overs.

League leaders Blackpool won the toss and skipper Paul Danson put Kendal into bat.

Openers Darren Braithwaite and Richard Herron were under pressure from a spell of tight bowling and made just 18 runs off 12 overs before Herron was the first back in the pavillion when he was caught behind off Gleeson.

Viljeon then took his first wicket with the prized scalp of professional How for a duck sparking jubilant scenes in the outfield.

Terry Hunte came to the crease and was dropped in the slips before the wickets of Braithwaite (15) and Ryan Shepherd (0) in the 17th over left Kendal in real trouble on 26-4.

The game was all but wrapped up when Viljeon took a further two wickets in the 21st over as Hunte (10) and Gary Baker (0) fell thanks to the Namibian’s fast right-arm bowling.

Viljeon and Gleeson continued their dominance and tore through the lower order as the latter dismissed Darren Nightingale (8) and Nick Lewthwaite (0) in the 26th over.

Chris Miller went for a golden duck and Kendal skipper Stu Parkin for one to complete a miserable afternoon for the home side.

In reply Gleeson made his mark with the bat after his impressive spell with the ball.

He hit four fours on his way to an unbeaten 31 off 37 balls. How took the wicket of opener Matthew Houston (4) in the sixth over but Gleeson, helped by Joshua Boyne, steered Blackpool to a comfortable victory
