KENDAL’s good end of season form came to an abrupt end as St Annes ran out four wicket victors at Vernon Road Ground.

The Shap Road outfit struggled to form any meaningful partnerships and were dismissed for 109 before St Annes chased down the total in just over 16 overs - losing six wickets in the process.

Kendal won the toss and elected to bat but started poorly when opener Darren Moore (0) was clean bowled by Lukman Vahaluwala in the third over.

New Zealand professional Jamie How, making his last appearance for Kendal, made just eight runs before he was caught by Thomas Bradley off the bowling of Michale Harling - the first of his three wickets.

Adam Cowperthwaite (12) followed How back to the pavilion in the 14th over and Richard Herron (17) in the 17th as Kendal’s innings began to crumble.

Terry Hunte’s dismissal in the 18th was Harling’s third wicket and brought Graham Baker and Ryan Shepherd to the crease.

Both hit 22 and showed some resistance but when they the lattwr was caught by Toby Bulcock off the bowling of Matthew Grindley Kendal’s tail end was exposed.

Baker, Marcus Hill (5) and Nick Lewthwaite (1) were dismissed in three consecutive overs as Kendal closed on 109 all out off 41.4 overs.

The chase began strongly as St Annes’ openers Adam Holt and Vahaluwala made 32 in six overs before the latter was caught by skipper Stu Parkin off the bowling of Cowperthwaite.

Skipper Nathan Armstrong hit 16 off just six balls before Parkin took his wicket - caught by Lewthwaite.

Regular wickets fell but the runs were being piled on as St Annes reached the target with nearly 35 overs to spare with Holt top scoring on 31.
