NETHERFIELD Cricket Club have signed British Passport player Rick Potter for the new season.

The 20-year-old plays for Sydney grade Club, Blacktown, and played for Upton Cricket Club in the Cheshire League last season.

Potter is a batsman/wicketkeeper and replaces Ben Phillips who chose not to come back due to work commitments.

Potter will link up with new professional Dieter Klein and captain Marc Brown is looking forward to working with both of them.

"Recruiting a professional is always a long process," said Brown. "As soon as Dieter became available he was our number one choice.

"He's a very exciting cricketer and is coming off a very good season back home so hopefully he can carry on that form at NCC."

It has been a relatively quiet winter for the Northern League club seeing just Ben Phillips and Saliya Saman depart - while Brad Earl has returned from his winter down under at St Barnabas Cricket Club.

"We have pretty much the same playing squad from last year with one change.

Brown is looking forward to another exciting campaign and is hoping to build on the positives of last year.

"We will be looking to find consistency in the league to hopefully work ourselves up the table," added Brown.

"We will be aiming to go one further in the Readers Cup having made the semi finals two years running. T20 cricket is something we all enjoy and will obviously be going all out to win the competition for the third season in a row."

Outdoor nets beginning this Tuesday 31st March.
