NETHERFIELD captain Marc Brown insists his side fear no-one as they prepare to travel to Northern League leaders Morecambe on Saturday.

After a last ball defeat to defending champions Blackpool on Sunday - which ended a run of five straight wins - Brown believes his team are capable of beating anyone in the division.

"We won five games on the spin and it could quite easily have been six against Blackpool," said Brown. "We may have lost the game but we have real momentum in the way we are playing and it is case of seizing the moment."

Netherfield overcame the potential banana skin at Preston on Saturday then came up just short against Blackpool where John Huck scoring a wonderful unbeaten 127.

"John is a class act, one of the best batsmen I have played with in my time at Netherfield," he said. "He is hitting form at the moment and has shot up in to the top 10 batsmen in the league.

"It was an innings that you would have liked to have been a match-winning one but that is cricket."

On Saturday, Netherfield bowled Preston out for 107 with sub professional, Ockert Erasmus - on loan from Lancashire League side Accrington - finished with figures of 7-25.

Ben Barrow and Richard Potter, with unbeaten knocks of 30 and 75 respectively, guided Netherfield home.

"We knew that could have been a tough game because Preston are bottom and without a win so we had to go there and be professional as we could."

On Sunday, Huck's unbeaten knock of 129 off 110 balls proved to be in vein as Blackpool won by three wickets with Matthew Houston getting the winning runs on the last ball of the game.

Batting first, Netherfield were struggling at 12-3 after Potter (1), Brown (0) and sub pro Chris Williams (4) all went cheaply.

But they launched a stunning recovery, thanks to a fourth wicket stand of 105 between Barrow and Huck as Netherfield posted 213-5 off 45 overs, John Atkinson was not out on 20 at the close.

Blackpool got off to a steady start in their reply with Matthew Houston and Richard Gleeson pushing the league champions on to 30 for the first wicket.

Sub pro Williams despatch Richard Gleeson for 21 as he was caught and bowled by The Cumberland star.

Netherfield then got a second wicket as Josh Boyne went lbw to Scott Clement for 15 off 36 balls andBlackpool were on 62-2.

However, a third wicket partnership of 60 between Matthew Houston and sub professional Geeth Kumara saw Blackpool go along to 129 and in with a chance of victory.

Netherfield though had other ideas as Mark Clarkson despatched Kumara as his effort was well caught by Chris Williams. Kumara went for 28 off 37 balls.

Clarkson then saw Stephen Twist off for 4 as Ben Barrow claimed the catch, with the game now in the balance on 129-4.

Young second team star Jo Portman then saw Andy Furniss caught for 12 by Barrow, before Clarkson completed a four-wicket haul seeing off both Michael Penney and Ben Howarth who was caught and bowled by Clarkson for 0.

Penney caught by Barrow.

In the end the game went down to the last over, with Blackpool skipper Paul Danson and Matthew Houston at the crease. Houston getting the winning runs off the last ball as Blackpool celebrated a dramatic win.
