NETHERFIELD lost to Penrith in a rain reduced game by four wickets.

Penrith chasing a revised target of 233 after having lost six overs due to rain in the second innings.

Penrith winning the toss and inserting Netherfield in, as Netherfield made a flying start thanks to both Ben Barrow and Rick Potter who put on 58 for the first wicket.

The Barrow, Potter partnership broken when Ben Barrow was run out in the 11th over by Alex Raybould for 16 off 31 balls.

Netherfield continued to put the runs on the board, with Rick Potter and Netherfield Skipper Marc Brown putting on a second wicket stand of 89. Both Potter and Brown looked in good touch, until Greg Hall bowled Marc Brown for 34 off 48 balls.

Penrith had further joy when Rick Potter went for 78 off 83 balls after being caught by Alex Atkinson at cover off the bowling of Paul Hindmarch

Hindmarch in the attack then grabbed his second wicket soon after when John Huck fell for 15 off 18 balls as Ryan Carruthers collected the catch at cover point

Netherfield going from 147-2 to 177-4, saw Dieter Klein and Brad Earl take the score past 200, only for Klein to be bowled for 22 by Liam Trevaskis.

Trevaskis then seeing off Brad Earl before Liam Dugdale was bowled by Michael Slack for 0, in the 41st and 42nd over as Netherfield were down to 212-7.

Netherfield all out for 248 in 47.3 overs, as Tom Williamson and Ryan Wilson fell to Paul Hindmarch who returned figures of 4-44. Nathan Chambers unbeaten on 26 off 22 balls, Mark Clarkson the final wicket to fall after being caught by Kriss Mclean for one off the bowling Liam Trevaskis who finished with figures of 3-51.

Marc Brown's team made the early breakthrough in the second innings when Nicky Burns was caught by Ben Barrow for 21 off the bowling of Mark Clarkson. Nathan Chambers then seeing off Michael slack who was caught at cover by Tom Williamson in the 14th over, before Alex Atkinson was bowled by Chambers for one in the 15th over Penrith struggling on 76-3.

Rain stopped play at 5.42pm, Penrith on 120-3 in 22.3 overs at that stage. Once play resumed six overs were lost with the overs down to 46. Penrith set a revised target of 233 to win.

The hosts recovered thanks to a fourth wicket partnership of 87 in 16 overs between Ryan Carruthers and Paul Hindmarch. The fourth wicket stand taking the hosts on to 163, with Netherfield finally breaking the stand when Carruthers was bowled by Mark Clarkson for 82 off 66 balls (x 9 4’s and x5 6’s)

Paul Hindmarch was then trapped LBW for 44 off 69 balls by Mark Clarkson, Penrith pushing on thanks to the unbeaten knock of 53 off 42 balls by former Netherfield player Greg Hall. Klein did take the wicket of Liam Trevaskis for 4 with Ryan Wilson taking the catch.

However, Penrith knocked the revised total off in 42.3 overs closing on 237-6.
