NETHERFIELD Seconds remain top of the Northern Premier Cricket League Division Two table following a 27 run victory at Lancaster.

The seconds opted to bat as they were chasing the full 15 points, with Netherfield declaring in the 41st over on 205-7.

Matthew Atkinson top scored with 53 runs whilst James Park Johnson (48), Matthew Goodall (45) and an unbeaten 20 from Marc Hadwin also helped the scoreboard tick over.

Lancaster battled in their reply with Matthew Liver unbeaten on 74, whilst Phillip Sparrow scored 55.

However Hadwin returned figures of 4-18, with Liam Dugdale returning figures of 4-30 as Lancaster were bowled out for 178 in 44.4 overs.

Netherfield also won on Sunday in the John Scott Cup seeing off Carlisle's Seconds by eight wickets. Carlisle were dismissed for 62 before an unbeaten 33 from Tom WIlliamson guided them to victory. The seconds now face Cleator in the semi-final.

Meanwhile Kendal Seconds fell to a 36 run defeat to Penrith at Shap Road. Penrith were all out for 139 as Lewis Richardson returned figures of 5-29 but Kendal collapsed from 73-2 to be bowled out for 103 in 27.2 overs.

Jamie O’Brien returned figures of 7-31 while Richardson top scored with 40.
