MARC Brown has urged his Netherfield teammates to stay focussed on the task ahead with a crucial league and cup double on the agenda this weekend.

The Parkside Road club travel to Fleetwood on Saturday with a chance of breaking into the top five still possible - before a trip down the A590 to Barrow to face Cleator Moor in the Cumbria Cup final.

And while excited with the prospect of picking up another trophy, Brown, whose side last won the cup back in 2008, wants the focus to remain on the league - at least until Saturday night.

"I set a target midway through the season of getting into the top five and three teams are all on the same total so we are not out of the running and have to try win every game," he said.

"Any final is about your big players standing up and doing it for the team. Everyone has had runs or wickets over the season so we know we've got a decent chance of winning but we need to be focussed.

"I know Cleator reasonably well. They are a very competitive side who do reasonably well in the North Lancs league every year. Any game in a final will be tough but we will go there on Sunday with a lot of confidence. We've got quite a few people coming through to watch so we want to put on a good show for our supporters."

Brown gave star bowler Mark Clarkson a bit of a rest in last weekend's win over Lancaster as the fast bowler was nursing an old injury - but the skipper insists Clarkson will be back at full throttle this weekend.

"Mark had a bit of a niggle and I knew we had couple of important games coming up so I didn't want to stretch him too much," he said. "He will be fine and raring to go on Saturday."

The road to the final began back in May with an 82 run over Appleby and Eden as Brown hit an unbeaten 92 off 80 balls.

In the quarter final they eased past Arnside by 78 runs before John Huck's spectacular 93 in the final four against Kendal saw them win by a staggering 165 runs.
