KENDAL and Netherfield go head-to-head for the fifth and final time this season in a league showdown at Shap Road on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Parkside Road club hold this season's bragging rights with three victories to one - including the recent 165 run demolition in the Cumbria Cup semi-final.

Kendal's only highlight came on May's Bank Holiday Monday's one wicket win at Netherfield - something skipper Marc Brown hopes his side can gain revenge for on Monday afternoon.

"We know they have got talented players but are also struggling for player commitment at the moment," he said. "But it doesn't necessarily help us because maybe we are a bit under pressure to win. We know we shouldn't have lost to them at home, that was probably our lowest point of the season but we were on a big slump.

"Everyone is up for the challenge and we've still got a lot to play for in the last four league games.

"If we perform to the best of our ability then we know we are more than capable of winning the game. We've just got to go out their and put on a good show.

"Every game now is about individuals standing up and performing. We don't want to be finishing any lower than we are. We know we've made an inconsistent campaign again and we now need to strive to finish higher than we did last season to show progress is being made."

But Kendal captain Chris Miller has other ideas and will be bolstered by the return of Darren Braithwaite and Shane Hyland from injuries, and father-and-son Paul and Joe Dodds from holiday.

"We will be nearly at full strength which will be pleasing after the last couple of weeks," said Miller.

"It's always a tough game against Netherfield because they are a good side. It depends on how we cope with their batting line-up.

"If we can get through that we have a good chance of beating them because they are either scoring 200+ runs or not that many.

"Marc Brown is a good player and the professional has been scoring runs as well while the others have the ability to chip in with 20, 30, 40 so they bat well a long way down."
