Netherfield ended their season in style after they defeated Preston by 7 wickets in a rain reduced game at Parkside Road.

Daniel Ingham's first innings return of 4-22 saw the visitors restricted to 154-8, before James Park-Johnson's undefeated half century guided Netherfield to victory as they closed on 156-8 off 35.4 overs.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Netherfield made a good start after Marc Hadwin bowled Preston captain Sajid Patel in the second over.

Irshad Desai and Jibran Khan guided Preston along to 46, before Lewis Richardson bowled Desai for 24 off 58 balls.

Netherfield claimed a third wicket after Lukman Vahaluwala was trapped LBW by Hadwin for 17, as the visitors were stuck on 80-3.

Jibran Khan and Mustafa Durrani frustrated Ben Barrow's team, after the pair put on a stand that guided the visitors onto 115.

Netherfield broke the partnership after Khan, who top scored with 63, picked out Lewis Richardson off the bowling of Ingham.

Durrani and Yasin Patel battled onto 152, before Tom Bruce dismissed Patel for 10.

However with Preston set for a good score Ingham changed the momentum of the game after he claimed the wickets of Durani and Mya Ahmed Lunat with the visitors on 153-7.

Ingham was unfortunate not to claim a hattrick, before he saw off Yasin Boda who was caught behind by John Huck after Preston closed on 154-8 off a rain-reduced 40 overs.

In reply Netherfield made a steady start thanks to Park-Johnson and Barrow who put on a first-wicket stand of 23.

Barrow, who scored 9 off 31 balls, was stumped by Desai off Andrew Starkie, however despite the dismissal, both Brad Earl and Park-Johnson pushed the score onto 75, before Earl was caught behind for 32 by Desai off the bowling of Yasin Patel.

Bruce and Park-Johnson claimed control of the innings after they pushed the side onto 139.

Bruce was all set for a half century of his own, but fell on 45 after being caught behind by Desai off the bowling of Starkie before Park-Johnson did manage to reach his milestone as Netherfield closed in on victory.

In the end both Park-Johnson and Huck saw out the game, before Huck sealed the win after he drove the ball to the boundary, as Netherfield closed on 156-3 off 35.4 overs.
