NETHERFIELD had to settle for a winning draw at Penrith despite a 51 from Brad Earl contributing to a total of 210.

But Penrith frustrated the reigning Northern League champions as Samuel Hall's undefeated 47 and Mark Osborne's undefeated 39 saw the hosts see out 53 overs before closing their reply on 159-6.

Netherfield batted first and made an impressive start as Ben Barrow and Earl put on an imposing first wicket stand of 75.

Penrith broke the partnership when Barrow picked out Samuel Hall off the bowling of Greg Hall, before Ashwin Hebbar claimed the wicket of Jack Boyle who was caught by Jonathan Osborne.

Further wickets fell when Hebbar trapped Earl LBW for a top score of 51 off 39 balls before Greg Hall claimed the wicket of John Huck while Netherfield were left on 109-4.

Netherfield continued to struggle after Lewis Edge was dismissed by Jonathan Osbourne, but Josh Dixon and Lewis Richardson recovered the innings with an imposing sixth wicket stand of 52.

Greg Hall broke the stand after trapping Richardson for LBW before the former Netherfield player ripped through to dismiss Harrison Cox.

Netherfield went onto lose Nathan Chambers who was run out before Hall finished with a first innings return of 6-63 after seeing off Matt Jackson and Marc Hadwin as Netherfield were all out for 210 off 46.3 overs.

In reply, Netherfield made a strong start after Jackson bowled Nicky Burns, before running out Nick Hodgson while Penrith slumped onto 26-2.

Penrith were under further pressure when Jackson claimed the wicket of Greg Cameron while Nathan Chambers picked up the wicket of Hebbar.

Netherfield continued to tear through the Penrith batting line up before Hadwin dismissed both Greg Hall and Alistair Craig as Penrith collapsed onto 72-6.

However, the seventh-wicket stand of 78 between Mark Osborne and Samuel Hall frustrated Netherfield and despite the Field's best efforts Penrith recovered and closed their reply on 159-6 off 53 overs. Osborne scored 31 and saw off 95 balls while Hall top scored with 47 and faced 97 balls.

Netherfield claimed 10 points.
