NETHERFIELD Cricket Club made it two wins from two after an emphatic eight-wicket win at Barrow on Saturday.

Harrison Cox returned first innings figures of 4-18, while Marc Hadwin claimed 4-37 as Barrow were all out for 132 off 44.1 overs.

Ben Barrow’s undefeated second innings knock of 71 off 80 balls as well as Jack Boyle’s 45 off 82 saw Netherfield close on 133-2 off 29.2 overs.

Barrow won the toss and elected to bat, but it was Netherfield who made the first breakthrough when Toby Mowat was run out.

Netherfield reduced Barrow onto 27-3 when Cox picked up the wicket of Ryan Gilmour, who was caught by Boyle, before Matt Jackson dismissed Robin Adams as the Barrow captain saw his tame effort caught behind by Netherfield wicketkeeper Lewis Edge.

Greg Reynolds and Grant Roelofsen offered some resistance for the hosts at Ernest Pass with a fourth wicket stand of 58, as Barrow moved onto 74.

But Netherfield broke through the partnership when Hadwin trapped Reynolds LBW.

Daryl Wearing and Roelofsen posted a fifth wicket stand of 68 as Barrow edged onto 100.

Netherfield regained control when Hadwin bowled Wearing for 14, and from that point the Field dismantled the hosts when Hadwin saw off Glen Kermode before Harrison Cox picked up the wicket of Sam Henderson who was caught by Ben Barrow.

Cox bowled Patrick Allington before Hadwin finished with figures of 4-37 after trapping Tom Penny LBW.

Netherfield cleaned the innings up after Cox dismissed Roelofsen for 67 while Barrow were all out for 132 off 44.1 overs.

In reply, Brad Earl fell cheaply for one run after being caught by Roelofsen off the bowling of Toby Mowat.

Ben Barrow and Jack Boyle posted an imposing second wicket stand of 106 as Netherfield moved closer to victory.

Boyle was dismissed for 45 after the New Zealand professional picked out Daryl Wearing off the bowling of Patrick Allington.

However, Ben Barrow’s undefeated knock of 71 and Josh Dixon’s undefeated six off nine saw Netherfield finish on 133-2 off 29.2 overs.

Netherfield travel to Morecambe on Saturday before playing two Twenty-20s on Sunday where they face Barrow and Penrith.

All the action gets underway at 12 noon.

Netherfield are now up to third in the Northern Premier Division, eight points behind leaders Blackpool.
