THE EXCITING prospect of Netherfield CC hosting finals day of the NPL Twenty/20 Cup on Sunday, July 26 was confirmed after Chris Parry's side completed a clean weep in their group matches by beating Barrow on Friday evening.

On the finals day, Netherfield will play Morecambe in the first semi-final at 11am, with Darwen playing Preston in the second semi-final at 2pm.

Teenager Alex Atkinson was in fine form again in the shortened form as he smashed 58 in Netherfield's 90-run victory over Barrow at the Ernest Pass Memorial ground.

Supporting Atkinson's half-century, John Huck's 27 was the other stand-out effort in a total of 134-6 with Barrow pro Pasan Wanasinghe and Liam Livingstone each taking two wickets.Netherfield's peerless record put extra pressure on Barrow, who needed to reach their target in 13 overs to go through to the semi-finals on run-rate.

Netherfield gained quick wickets with Scott Clement taking 4-13 as Barrow slumped to 15-4 and were bundled out for 44 in 10.2 overs, with only Jon Miles in double figures with 20.

Netherfield have a double-header at home in league and cup with the visit of Preston and Chorley this weekend. .
