Cricket - Draws the order of the day

HALF-centuries from Sajid Patel and Luckman Vahaluwala lifted Preston to 208 all out and left Netherfield forced to settle for a draw at 180-7 in reply in Saturday's Furness BS Northern Premier League match.

Patel (59) and Vahaluwala held up the home attack as Scott Clement finished with 3-54, Chris Miller 3-45 and pro Glen Batticciotto 2-51.

Netherfield suffered an early blow in their innings, losing opener Craig Walmsley for a duck.

Batticciotto top-scored with 40 and John Huck was next best with 38 but with wickets falling, Netherfield survived for the draw at 180-7, with Darren Nelson taking 4-52.

Kendal secured the major portion of the draw points against Blackpool, setting a target of 170-7 after Kevin Howarth hit 48 and pro Ross McMillan 52.

Sajeewah Weerakoon took 3-54.

Blackpool almost capitulated at 160-8 after opener John Mounsey's 63, with Paul Danson next best on 23.

Ben Simm led the bowling charge with 4-62, with two wickets apiece for McMillan and Andrew Dugdale.
