ONE man went again the grain as Kendal took on Preston at West Cliff. Kevin Howarth made 58 but all his team-mates ended up dismissed for single figures at title-chasing Preston bounced to the top of the table with a 20-run win in Saturday rain-affect league programme.

Heavy rain in the morning meant Netherfield failed to get a start in their game against St Annes.

The abandonment left the way open for Preston take depose St Annes from top spot and take a slender one-point lead at the top of the table.

Kendal had restricted Preston to 120-8 in 39 overs and Jack White led the bowling returns with 3-21 off seven overs, including two maidens.

Ross McMillan took 2-35 and Howarth 2-38 and he also took three catches.

Howarth compiled 58 with the bat but watched his colleagues come and go in a procession at the visitors were all out for 100 with Lukman Vahaluwala took 5-27 and Bilal Asad 4-17.
