Westgate had to settle for a winning draw as Sedgwick dug their heels in on what looked to be a solid track.

Westgate were inserted and a second wicket partnership of 133 between skipper Andy Hill (72) and Garry Tattersall (72) got them off to a great start before Tattersall was out lbw to Nick Dalzell (2-20).

Medium pace swing bowler Chris Mason ensured Sedgwick remained in touch by taking 6-23 as the visiting middle order collapsed, but Dylan Conroy (14) and Darren McDermott (10no) made decent contributions as Westgate finished on 196-9.

Chris Miller batted aggressively as Sedgwick went in search of victory but it was not until Nick Dalzell (42) and Mike Bracken (35) came to the crease that they believed they could take the game.

But a mid-innings crisis saw Danny Wilkinson bowl 4-28, and the chance of victory was snuffed. But Sedgwick’s impressive youngsters held their nerve to collect three points as Westgate took nine.

A close finish at Shireshead saw the hosts edge Burneside by three runs.

Shires won the toss and chose to bat on a hard pitch and it was tough going from the outset. A couple of quick wickets were taken as Ben Leacock (3-36) and Paul Bigland (2-24) made the most of the inconsistent bounce.

Gareth Jennings imposed himself of the game with 24, but Shires were all out for just 117.

But seven wickets fell for just 31 runs as Shires turned the game on its head and skipper Steve Cooper was left with number 11 Bigland to see the match out with 15 runs required.

But Bigland was trapped lbw to leave Burneside on 114, and three runs shy of their target.

Warton moved back to the top of Division One with a win-ning draw at Arnside.

Warton had a good start with Tony Barrow (76), James Rafferty (23) and Paul Wilson (31) and a quick half century from captain Graeme Crowther (57no) eased Warton to 240-7.

A good stand of 120 between Matthew Brockbank (51) and Kevin Howarth boosted Arnside but the middle order collapsed before Richard Hodgson (17) and Robert Shepherd (17) gave them a chink of light, but then Rafferty trapped Howarth for 117.

Arnside added an extra 12 runs from the last over but were two runs shy of victory with a wicket in-hand, having to settle for four points, and giving Warton 10.

Jono Cooper took 4-29 to earn 12 points for Milnthorpe as Silver-dale managed just 121 in 37.5 overs.

Steve Bowman (21) played well before Andrew Pennington made 25 and Milnthorpe eased to 122-7.

Heysham made a brisk start against Windermere through James Whincup (53) and Lee Calverley, but Matt Park ripped through the tail end to bring the innings to a close on 180.

After tea Windermere made a bad start, losing both openers with just two runs on the board.

A recovery was started by Jo Stephenson and Mike Lewthwaite (27), but the middle order fell away and it was left to Dan Harrison (14) and Paul Bush (30no) to provide support as the score mounted.

With the score on 150 and just four overs left Stephenson pushed for the win but was caught on the boundary for 66 and Windermere were all out soon after for 151.
