BURNESIDE’S title hopes were dealt a blow after they lost by 94 runs to Silverdale, who bounced back from a couple of poor results.

Shireshead took full advantage with an eight-wicket success over Bare to leapfrog Burneside and move within five points striking distance of table-topping Westgate.

Silverdale’s Dodds was in excellent form for the home side, striking an impressive 127 not out as they posted a target of 197-8 off their allotted overs.

Burneside could only muster 103 runs before they were bowled out.

Shireshead skipper Paul Yates won an important toss and invited Bare to bat first.

Gareth Jennings and Dave Jack (2 -24) set the tone for the innings as Bare struggled to find momentum with the exception of skipper Moller (54).

Set 133 for victory, Shireshead began steadily until Cook removed Jacques on 22.

Yates (27) then accelerated the innings with Rafferty (39 not out) before Oliver (45 not out) finished with some signature ball striking.

Oliver’s innings lasted just 33 balls as victory was secured with 13 overs to spare.
