WESTGATE pulled 20 points clear at the top of the Readers Westmorland League with an easy success over Silverdale.

Silverdale put themselves in to bat first and were all out for 68 off 34 overs - Hill recording bowling figures of 4-20 and Wilson 4-23 as Hargreaves top-scored with 29.

In response Westgate made light work of reaching the target, Hill scoring 39 not out and Pierce 25 not out as they hit 69 runs without loss for a 15-point success.

Sedgwick clung on against Warton to claim a losing draw from the match.

Bovis once again showed his batting prowess with 89, and Ideson knocked 59 not out as Warton worked their way to 174-3 off the allotted 45 overs.

Ideson performed well with ball in hand as well, showing figures of 5-29, but it was not enough despite a late flurry of wickets.

Sedgwick lost four wickets in three overs, meaning that they had to survive two balls with only one batter left, but they succeeded to win one point from the match.

Bare won their third match of the season against fellow strugglers Ambleside.

Bare were bowled out for 82 in 38 overs in a low-scoring affair, Dean scoring 3-6 and Gage 3-5.

Ambleside fared even worse, operating at 5-6 at one point as Cook bowled a superb 4-8.

Gage (23) and Tollady (18) made the score less embarrassing as bottom side Ambleside mustered up 75 all out.

Heysham beat Arnside by 10 wickets, Cassidy bowling 8-63 for Heysham as they bowled Arnside all out for 171 despite the best efforts of Richardson, who scored 95.

Powers struck 91 not out and Calverley 72 not out as Heysham eased over the finishing line.

Bolton-le-Sands notched up 225-8 against Milnthorpe, ibbotson just two runs from his century before he was dismissed. Beaumont also scored 95 runs.

In reply Milnthorpe were 150-5 when they lost three quick wickets, so they added another 15 runs without loss in the remaining seven overs to play out a draw.

Only six overs were completed in the Burneside v Shireshead match due to heavy rain.
