THREE different results were still possible with the last ball of the game in a thriller between Arnside and Warton.

Warton batted first and they started poorly as they fell to 63-6 after 20 overs. But Dixon at number six went on to score 46 and Crowther put on a 50-partnership with him as Warton added 104 runs before they were bowled all out for 167 in the last over.

Shepherd had a great day for Arnside, claiming 5-48 and scoring 51 not out.

Arnside’s reply began positively as they raced to 48-0 off eight overs, but three quick wickets pegged the home side back.

With four overs left Arnside needed 24 runs with three wickets remaining, but another couple of dismissals left Arnside requiring 10 runs off 10 balls with one wicket left.

The last over saw a dropped catch at the boundary as Arnside chased seven to win, but they pulled up one run short of a tie to finish on 166-9.

Shireshead kept up the pressure on table toppers Westgate with a three-wicket success over Silverdale on a bowler-friendly pitch.

Silverdale struggled and were only 12-1 after 11 overs. Skipper Dodds (30) tried to steady the ship but Oliver was sensational with ball in hand for Shireshead, bowling 7-9 as Silverdale went from 49-2 to 66 all out.

Shireshead also struggled batting as Skipworth (21) tried to hold the innings together. Wickets fell regularly as Shireshead fell from 38-2 to 59-7 chasing 67 to win, but Oliver saw his side home for 12 crucial point.

Westgate declared on 163-5 after Hill scored seven fours on his way to 61. Wilson (31) and Lord (25) supported Hill, but Bare could only muster up 55 runs before they were bowled out as Wilson (4-11) and Hill (4-19) tore into the batting.

Milnthorpe were 25-1 at the halfway stage of their innings against Heysham, but wickets tumbled as Heysham’s fielders held onto their catches.

Milnthorpe finished 75-8 but they started the second innings brightly, claiming their first wicket for nine runs and reducing the away side to 18-3.

However, Whincup finished 31 not out to bring Heysham over the line with four wickets spare.

Clarkson struck an impressive 88 for Bolton-le-Sands after Sedgwick put them into bat on what looked like another pitch for the bowlers.

They went onto score 184-8 as Mark Beaumont supported Clarkson with 30.

Sedgwick reached 40-1 until a good bowling spell by Clarkson reduced them to 63-4.

Dalzell got into bat and put Sedgwick on 120-6 until three quick wickets left Sedgwick with one wicket remaining and three overs to bat out.

But they succeeded and finished on 154-9 to claim a losing draw.

Burneside’s match was once again spoiled by rain against Ambleside. They had scored 182-6, with bottom club Ambleside struggling on 28-2 before the wet weather once again intervened.
