WITH Kendal taking maximum points from their last two league games, manager Dave Foster has challenged his squad to end the month of December unbeaten.

The Mintcakes host Radcliffe Borough this Saturday before away trips to Lancaster City on Boxing Day and Harrogate Railway Athletic two days later complete a busy festive period.

New signings Callum Hoctor and Danny MacDonald started at the weekend as Town built on their win over Mossley the week before with victory over bottom of the table Ossett Albion.

And with the squad now looking stronger, Foster is hoping good form will see the Parkside Road club stay in touch with fellow play-off hopefuls.

“When I looked at the fixtures at the start of the month I said to the lads I don’t see why we should lose,” he said.

“They are all games we should be winning and if we can go five or six unbeaten we will really put ourselves in that pack for the play-offs.

“And there is no reason why we can’t do that – the challenge is there and it’s up to the lads to do it.

“With the additions we’ve made and key players coming back from injury, the squad is looking healthy again.

“I was pleased with the performance of the two new lads at Ossett while Colin Watson made his return from injury and Danny Mitchley played the majority of the match.

“I’m hoping Ricky Mercer and Warren Beattie will be in contention this weekend so we’re nearly back to full strength which hasn’t been the case since I took over.

“It’s a nice headache for me to have.”

Maison McGeechan and Danny Mitchley scored second-half goals at Ossett as Kendal secured their first away win since mid-September, with Foster pleased with the battling qualities of his side.

“We showed confidence in the second-half and a bit of guts to be brave on the ball,” he added.

“At half-time we stressed to keep doing the right things, keep putting the balls in the right areas and then go and play football in their half.

“We did that and after we scored our second and third you could see what a good side we are, demonstrating all the things which I know are in there but have been missing recently.

“And aside from the expected spell where they came back at us, we pretty much camped in their half during the second period.

“It was one of those days we just had to do the horrible things – win headers, win tackles and put the ball in good areas and show good energy.

“I thought Will Bell and Kevin Brown were outstanding at centre-half as was Danny Coid in the middle and in the end we just had too much for Ossett.”
