KENDAL Town Ladies bowed out of the Argyle Sports Kit Cup at the first stage after losing 4-3 to Woolton at The Lancaster and Morecambe College Stadium.

The home side got off to a bad start conceding two goals in the first 10 minutes, first through Kerry Sloan and then Vicky Frazer.

Katie Ireland reduced the arrears midway through the first half when she capitalised on a mistake in the penalty box and tapped the ball home past the keeper.

As the half progressed, Kendal were taking control of the game, putting some good attacking plays together showing their improvement and confidence.

At the start of the second half, Ireland had a goal ruled out for offside but Kendal weren’t to be denied as a minute later they equalised when substitute Heather Ramsay burst through the Woolton defence to clinically finish past Emma Gould.

Unfortunately for Kendal they were caught out a minute after equalising when Sloan grabbed her second of the afternoon.

Woolton then made it 4-2 with 15 minutes to go as Frazer grabbed her second of the game

With time running out on the clock, Kendal were given a life line with nine minutes left as a ball into the box rebounded off one of the Woolton players for an own goal with the ball going past the visiting keeper.

However despite Kendal's best efforts the clock ran out on them. Kendal, despite the defeat, go into the Plate Competition where they will be away to The City of Manchester in February.

Kendal are back to league action next Sunday when they host Stockport County Blues at The Lancaster and Morecambe College Stadium.
