KENDAL Town Ladies were left disappointed as they crashed to a 3-0 home defeat to Accrington Girls & Ladies.

In the first half Kendal found it difficult as Accrington were in control but Kendal defended well and kept trying to go forward when they could.

However it was no surprise when Accrington gained the initiative on 33 minutes when Amelia Ripley finished from an acute angle firing the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net to give the visitors the lead.

Accrington were then awarded a penalty in the 43rd minute however Gemma Charlton stood firm in the Kendal goal - turning the ball around the post to deny Caroline Mallen.

From the resulting corner, Accrington made Kendal pay for some slack marking in the 44th minute as Kerry Bamford made it 2-0 to the visitors.

In the second half, Kendal looked sharper and started to push forward causing more threats on the Accrington goal but Elsie Atkinson fired wide from inside the penalty box and shot straight at the keeper. Kendal were also awarded a free kick from inside the penalty box and despite it leading to nothing Accrington were forced to put their bodies on the line and defend.

Unfortunately for Kendal they were unable to get the goal back and the result was sealed when Jenny Simpson added a third after 85 minutes.
