Kendal Town Ladies 3 -1 Stockport County Blues

KENDAL Town Ladies made it six points out of a possible nine in a hard fought win over Stockport County Blues at Parkside Road.

Town started the game brightly with the ever dangerous Heather Ramsay seeing her effort hit the cross bar early on in the first half.

Kendal's dominance came to fruition on 25 minutes when player/manager Lauren Downham unleashed a well placed shot into the top corner of the net.

With Kendal on the front foot Heather Ramsay almost doubled the advantage after forcing the Stockport keeper into a finger tip save.

Kendal got a deserved second on 30 minutes when Lisa Rowlinson's close range strike rebounded off the post and into the net.

However Stockport woke up and forced a couple of long range efforts at Jen Carradus in the Kendal goal, before the visitors pulled one back close to half time when Amy Broadhurst outmuscled the Town defenders to power the ball home.

The second half was a close affair, with very few chances created, however as the half wore on Kendal got into the game.

Paula Doyle forced a save out of the keeper before a few long range efforts also went wide of the post.

Kendal sealed the three points with eight minutes left on the clock from the penalty spot.

Joanne Thompson made no mistake to help Kendal keep their unbeaten run at home intact.
