THE year 10 football team at Kendal's Queen Katherine School are celebrating victory in the final of the County Cup.

Work rate, passion and skill saw QKS blow William Howard away in a thrilling 3-0 win.

An opening goal after just 33 seconds from Lucas Parker gave QKS a great start and settled any nerves. Both teams battled fiercely, tackling hard but fairly with Mitchell Bennett and George Hornby setting a high intensity from the front.

Parker got a second goal 20 minutes in after chasing down a lost cause, putting QKS 2-0 ahead and comfortably in control.

William Howard pushed hard for the remainder of the first half but couldn't break down the QKS defence with Jake Bryant, Pat Savage and Jake Green standing firm and dealing with a succession of William Howard Corners.

As the second half began the fast pace set in the first half continued with tackles from both teams being made. Winger Joe Hodgson continued working tirelessly down the right and his hard work won QKS a corner.

The corner, taken by Hodgson, was met by the head of Kelton Knowles who powered home to put QKS comfortably 3-0 ahead.

This goal was just reward for Knowles who put in a brilliant performance, winning tackles and starting moves continuously throughout the game.

As the game entered the final minutes William Howard continued to push forward but again the strong defence of QKS stood firm with Will Brooks dispossessing his opposite number every time.

QKS continued to play football until the ref blew the final whistle. The boys were all delighted, their hard work and dedication since our first round victory against QES back in September now worth the reward.
