Under 16 league champions Swarthmoor began the defence of their Kent Valley Junior Football League title with an emphatic 13-0 win at Grange United.

Archie Brownlee and Luke Armstrong scored four goals apiece, while Robin Oldfield’s brace and goals by William Guy, George Stubbs and Ethan Cole completed the rout.

In the other game Wattsfield began their season with a hard fought 5-1 win against Milnthorpe United. Wattsfield were only 1-0 up at half time and while they enjoyed a lot of possession, Milnthorpe defended well.

However Wattsfield in the end were too strong for the visitors after Jacob Matthews’s hat trick and goals by Samuel Troughton and Moses Heliwell sealed the win for the hosts.

Kendal United Rockets made it two wins from two in the under 15 league after a dominating 12-0 win at Milnthorpe Town.

Ethan Moffatt, Tom Humble and Joseph Fleming all scored hat tricks, before a brace by Thomas Russell and a goal by Mohammed Patel completed the rout.

Kendal United Colts were also winners after a narrow 1-0 win at Ambleside Cody Haines scored the only goal as the Colts made a winning start to the season.

In the Jim Troughton Under 14 League Wattsfield United defeated Appleby 6-1, while goals by Jake Woods and Robert Saunders guided Ambleside to a hard fought 2-1 win at Ibis.

Wattsfield battled back from 3-0 down before drawing 3-3 at Kendal United Colts in The David Hayton Under 13 league. The hosts surged into a 3-0 lead while Wattsfield struggled, however the visitors battled back in dramatic fashion after Charlie Connoll, Luke Lofthouse and Jesse Wilsden completed the comeback.

In the final game Wattsfield United defeated Heathwaite 5-1, Joel Billington scored a brace while Kacper Dobson and Freddie Blaydes were also on the scoresheet.
