Football - Late goals confirm Town menace at Mickleover

KENDAL Town's new striker Danny Rowe impressed on his first full bow and took the accolades as Lee Ashcroft's side came from behind with late goals at Mickleover.

After slipping behind to an Alex Steadman goal midway through the first half, Town threatened but without getting on the scoresheet before half time.

Redoubling their efforts in the second half, Town took the game to the league's newcomers and Rowe, a recent signing from Blackpool Wren Rovers where he was a prolific scorer, went close as did his partner up front Alex Taylor.

Keeper Ed Eley remained in fine form, however, until Ashcroft pushed Aaron Taylor up front in a three-man attack, and Carl Osman headed home Rowe's cross.

When sub Aaron Taylor raced into the penalty area he was brought down by Joe Carter, who was sent off and Keiran Walmsley blasted in the spot kick.

Aaron Taylor hit the post with a snap volley but Kendal wrapped up the three points when Osman picked out Rowe and he cut in and finished with aplomb.

Town welcome Burscough on Bank Holiday Monday for the second home match on the league season, aiming to extend their unbeaten run to four games.
