Kendal County pick up four points but frustration for Ambleside as they concede late goals
KENDAL County had a solid week in the West Lancashire Football League as they moved up to fourth.
Saturday was frustrating for Kendal as they failed to hit the net in a 0-0 draw with Bolton County.
Kendal County missed a hatful of chances in the match but they couldn’t get beyond the Bolton keeper.
On Tuesday night they beat local rivals Milnthorpe Corinthians 2-1 in a game which saw three goalkeeping errors for the three goals.
Dan Ferguson and Adam Pashley put Kendal 2-0 up after 15 minutes but Dan Tyrer pulled one back for Corinthians on 35 minutes.
County hit the bar and had an effort cleared off the line in the second half but that was the only action and Kendal collected three points to compound a miserable week for Corinthians.
They were hammered 7-1 by CMB on Saturday, Jason Dickinson scoring the only goal for Milnthorpe as CMB won through goals from Dale Warburton, Ben Monks, Jamie Boyd, an own goal and a Danny Halloran hat-trick.
GSK Ulverston Rangers picked up four points through their exertions in the week.
An 80th minute equaliser from Gary Prosser earned Ulverston a point after they scored an early own goal against Hurst Green.
Tuesday night was far more fruitful as they comfortably defeated Furness Cavaliers 4-0, goals coming from Jack Gardner, Steve Errington and a John Grimes brace.
Ambleside United had a frustrating week in Division One as they let late goals slip past them to claim two points when they could, and perhaps should, have had six.
With 20 minutes to go they were 5-2 up at home to Bac/Ee Preston thanks to two goals from Shaun Gardner and a Mike Barron hat-trick.
But three goals were conceded to finish the game 5-5.
Barron and Gardner gave United a 2-1 lead against recently-relegated Garstang on Tuesday night, but Draycott equalised with five minutes to go to cap a frustrating week for Ambleside.
