Town ready to embark on Evo-Stik campaign today

KENDAL Town begin their Evo-Stik Premier Division campaign today at home to Stafford Rangers.

Despite operating from a smaller budget this season, Town boss Lee Ashcroft is looking forward to the new campaign beginning on Saturday.

“It is always exciting before the start of the season and the lads are really looking forward to getting underway on Saturday,” Ashcroft said.

“It’s important to get off to a good start because for the first eight or nine weeks you’re playing every Saturday and Tuesday so you have to get those points on the board as early as possible.”

Ashcroft said 17-year-old right back and right midfielder Naim El-Harrati, released from Preston North End in the summer, has signed on to play this season.

Gavin Malin is still registered to play in Scotland so once the midfielder can get clearance Ashcroft wants to get him on Kendal’s books.

Gary McEvatt however is struggling with a hip problem, and he will see a specialist next week.
