Controversial penalty sinks Kendal Town at Rushall

KENDAL Town went down to a controversial penalty decision away at Rushall Olympic as they lost 1-0.

Just after half time Rushall were awarded a penalty for a shirt pull on Clarke, and Rushall’s Lei Brown stepped up and converted the spot kick to make it 1-0.

Kendal’s first chance of the match came on 21 minutes when Leadbetter crossed the ball into Kenworthy who put the ball into the net but was judged to be offside.

Kendal were first to every ball in midfield and were well on top in the first half.

Their best chance of the half fell to Leadbetter when Kenworthy pulled the ball back to Alex Taylor, who rolled it into the path of Leadbetter and Rushall’s Lucan Spittle got a vital block in to deny Kendal the lead.

Rushall’s best chance of the first half came when Gomes had a 40 yard effort denied by Craig Dootson with a good save.

Kendal had one final chance when Kenworthy played the ball to Taylor, who put it over to Williams, but the winger's shot went over.

Kendal had many chances to level as a Danny Williams effort was parried and a headed effort from Marc Joseph was held by the keeper.

Kendal had a great chance on 78 minutes when a Leadbetter free kick found Danny Wisdom who headed wide.

As Kendal tried to find an equalizer a long throw from Marc Joseph appeared to hit the hand of substitute Beckett but the ref waved play on and Rushall held out for a 1-0 win.
