IF proof was required that we are back to our best then Saturday’s 2-0 win over North Ferriby showed it.

Anyone who has seen Keiran Walmsley knows he is a deadly setpiece expert and he was due to score after a lean spell and did so with two fantastic goals.

He’s our own Beckham and could be playing at a higher level as I’ve said before.

But we had been the better footballing side all over the pitch and we really relish coming back to Parkside and playing on our superb pitch.

Unfortunately, Wednesday evening’s match at FC United was frozen off.

The frost is killing us like it did last season and it’s just another match to add to the backlog.

Results on Tuesday all went against us, too, with three teams above us all winning, but that will not affect our team spirit.

Young goalkeeper Tom Newton, from Carlisle, who is only 17 came in for David Newnes, who has a terrible deadleg.

I had been offered two deputy keepers from league clubs, but our goalkeeping coach said Tom was good enough and deserved his chance and he’s done a great job.

We go to Nantwich Town on Saturday, who are a bit off the pace and I’m expecting another strong display from us.

On Tuesday we are at home against Burscough - a fourth game between the side this season after we won and lost to them in cup and league
