KENDAL Town host Mossley on Saturday as their Evo Stik Division One North campaign gets under way.

The Mintcakes have had a productive pre season where they have impressed in losing just two of the games played.

Their last two games before the big kick off saw Kendal battle to a 4-4 draw with Morecambe Academy on Wednesday night before comfortably beating Holker Old Boys 6-0 at Parkside Road on Saturday.

On Wednesday, both Kendal and Morecambe produced plenty of good football as both sides battled in vain to pick up a win.

Kendal made a positive start to the game and missed a good chance on goal after just two minutes when Paul Dawson’s strike grazed the top of the crossbar.

The Mintcakes opened the scoring five minutes later after Connor Gaul placed the ball into the net from just outside the penalty area.

Kendal had plenty of chances to put the game away, however, Seear, Gaul and Dawson were denied by good goalkeeping and bad finishing.

Morecambe equalised midway through the first half when a corner into the box fell to the feet of Reece Deekin who tapped the ball home past Will Kitchen.

Kendal regained the lead at the start of the second half through Gaul who rounded the Morecambe keeper before side footing the ball into an empty net.

However, in what was an end-to-end game, Morecambe equalised soon after when Deekin's stunning free kick left Kitchen stranded in the Kendal goal.

Despite conceding, Kendal went 3-2 up through Max Rothwell before Charlie Bowman poked the ball home as Kendal raced into a 4-2 lead.

Morecambe battled back as Deekin completed his hat trick from close range before Ben Hedley's unstoppable free kick brought the visitors level.

Both sides were unable to find the winner as the game ended 4-4.

On Saturday, Kendal cruised past Holker Old Boys 6-0 at Parkside Road with Ric Seear and a Paul Dawson penalty giving Kendal a 2-0 lead at half time. Connor Gaul's quickfire brace at the start of the second half gave Kendal a commanding 4-0 lead, while a 25-yard strike by Danny McGahon and a close range finish by Aaron Taylor saw ease to victory.

Kendal begin their Evo Stik Division One North season on Saturday as they entertain Mossley before travelling to face Atherton Collieries in the league on Monday night.
