KENDAL Town manager Michael Stringfellow is certain that his side will beat struggling Farsley Celtic on Saturday with some fresh signings despite losing dramatically to Blyth Spartans in the FA Trophy last week.

The Mintcakes lost 4-0 to the Northumberland side and have not managed a victory since they defeated Scarborough Athletic in the cup at the beginning of October.

But Stringfellow thinks that several new faces including midfielder Alex Randall, centre half Tom Smythe and striker Alan Taylor could be the key to the Mintcakes problems.

He said: "With Taylor coming in from Lancaster City we will have three fit strikers for the first time and that will be a great help and might help us to be more clinical in front of goal.

"I've also brought in Tom Smythe from Chorley who was with them the entire season when they achieved promotion so he will again help drill some confidence and creativity into the side."

Goalkeeper Josh Richardson, formerly of Penrith, is also expected to make an appearance after making his debut for the club against Blyth.

The Mintcakes, who lie in twelfth place in the Evo-Stik First Division North, have a chance to go tenth on Saturday should they beat Farsley.

The Yorkshire side, who are teetering on the edge of the relegation zone, have lost their last four games and have not recorded a single victory away from home.

The boss felt that the scoreline against the Spartans did not reflect the performance of his team and said that they should go in with a newfound belief that they can beat anyone in the league including Farsley Celtic.

He added: "I think the fact that we matched them despite the loss has given us that belief that we can 100 per cent beat Farsley Celtic on Saturday.

"We can beat anyone in this league after testing Blyth, we just aren't capitalising on the chances we are creating. We have just got to be really positive and the result I know will come. It's just around the corner.

"Blyth were the best side we've played this season and they are the sort of games that are really tough, so we can be proud of ourselves especially as we created a few great chances to go ahead.

"Everyone knows that Farsley are a good side it's just something hasn't quite clicked with them this season, but we have to respect them and play our best football."

The match will kick off at 3pm on Saturday.
