KENDAL Town boss David Foster has warned his side they can expect Farsley Celtic to be throwing the kitchen sink at them as they chase promotion on the last day of the season on Saturday.

The West-Yorkshire side will arrive at the Pye Motors Stadium one point league leaders Lancaster City, knowing they need a result to have any chance of automatic promotion.

"They will be throwing everything at it because they have to win," said Foster. "Lancaster will be desperate for us to do them a favour but we know what's coming but we want to finish with a good performance.

"The pressure is all on Farsley's shoulders but that might suit us if they leave themselves open."

Foster was speaking following a mixed Bank Holiday weekend which saw Kendal win 3-0 at home to Mossley on Saturday before losing by the same scoreline away at Lancaster on Easter Monday thanks to a hat trick from former Town striker Jordan Connerton.

He said: "Saturday was very pleasing. We started the game well and got ourselves two ahead, it could have been four or five with the football we were playing.

"They had the better of the second half until we got the third which killed the game. We scored three good goals and it was nice to get the clean sheet.

"Yesterday (Monday) was obviously a bit frustrating and I was a bit disappointed. There really wasn't a lot in the game apart from at the top end of the pitch.

"The first half was quite competitive, we just gave away a soft goal and in the second half we just hit a brick wall. It could be it was just one game too many in a short space of time."

Reflecting on the season as a whole, with Kendal set to finish higher in the table and with more points they managed last year, Foster said there had been a lot of positives for his young side.

"I think overall we've done really well," he said. "We've got a relatively young squad that has grown well this year and are going to be a lot better for it. The benefits of this season will be seen next year.

"On our day we've shown we can beat anybody and it's very rare that we don't turn up to a game. At times we've played some super football and at others we've had to grind it out but hopefully we will be able to build on that next year."
