ALAN Coar scored a late winner as Hurst Green denied Askam United a point on the road in Division One of the West Lancashire Football League.

Callum Rayner put Askam ahead after just four minutes but a deflected Ashley Brierley effort brought Hurst Green level before the break.

Within a minute of the restart Simon Tipton's free-kick gave Hurst Green the lead for the first time before Rayner grabbed his second to restore parity.

With a share of the spoils looking likely, Coar bundled in Brierley's cross to give the home side the three points.

Elsewhere Dalton suffered similar late heartbreak at the hands of league leaders Wyre Villa.

Dalton took the lead in first half stoppage time when the referee over-ruled the linesman's offside decision and Ross Miller stroked the ball underneath the keeper.

The equaliser came through Jordan Casey before Josh Whittaker's strike gave the home side the lead.

Villa lost their concentration and were punished in stoppage time when the ball was put in from the right and fell to Jonathan While at the back post.

But that was not the end of the scoring as Zach Crosbie drove a 25-yard effort into the top corner to send Villa supporters and players into raptures.

Meanwhile Lytham Town picked up their first home win of the season by dispatching Ambleside United 2-0 thanks to goals from Gareth Lowcock and James McCulloch.

In Division Two Milnthorpe Corinthians, who sit 12th in the table with nine points, took the lead away at second-placed Leyland United through Adam Garnet't's 25th minute effort.

But Leyland showed why they are featuring in the upper echelons of the league and hit back ten minutes later through Matthew Ferguson. Two goals in the space of six second-half minutes first from Michael Hindle and then James Ball secured the points for Leyland and kept them within two points of league leaders Ladybridge, who were 5-3 victors over Croston Sports.

In Division Two reserves Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves picked up only their fourth point of the season in a 1-1 draw at home to Burnley United Reserves.
